The Puritans wisely sought to connect all of life to its source in God, bringing the two worlds together rather than dividing them into sacred and secular. They had a saying, “God loveth adverbs; and careth not how good, but how well.” Adverbs describe verbs—our words of action and activity. The proverb implies that God cares more about the spirit in which we live than the concrete results.

Pleasing God doesn’t mean that we must busy ourselves with a new set of “spiritual” activities. As the Puritans said, whether cleaning house or preaching sermons, shoeing horses or translating the Bible, any human activity may constitute an offering to God.

We spend much time immersed in the mundane. “But we have the mind of Christ,” Paul reminds us (1 Cor. 2:16). That truth is to guide everything we do. Caring for an elderly parent. Cleaning up after a child. Sitting on a porch with a neighbor. Fielding a customer’s complaint. Filling out patient charts at a nurses’ station. Sitting in traffic. Sawing lumber. Reporting tips. Shopping for groceries.

We need faith and the mind of the Lord Jesus to recognize something of lasting value in even our most ordinary tasks. — Philip Yancey

We also did a preview of our Christmas Drama entitled " Christmas with Ah Beng" .

Devotion :

After Jesus’ arrest, Peter, one of His beloved disciples, denied three times that he knew Him. Then, we read, “the Lord turned” and simply “looked at” him. Peter “went out and wept bitterly” (Luke 22:61-62). His tears were most likely tears of shame and repentance. No doubt he wished he could undo his actions. But Peter wasn’t left in his misery. After Jesus’ resurrection, He restored Peter, giving him opportunity to reaffirm his love (John 21:15-17).

When you sorrow over sin in your life, remember that God has provided a method of restoration. “If we confess our sins,” He will “forgive us” and “cleanse us from all unrighteousness”

Psalms 51

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart. —Psalm 51:17

All nations have heroes, but Israel may be alone in making epic literature about its greatest hero’s failings (Ps. 51). This eloquent psalm shows that Israel ultimately remembered David more for his devotion to God than for his political achievements.

Step-by-step, the psalm takes the reader through the stages of repentance. It describes the constant mental replays, the gnawing guilt, the shame, and finally the hope of a new beginning that springs from true repentance.

In a remarkable way, Psalm 51 reveals the true nature of sin as a broken relationship with God. David cries out, “Against You, You only, have I sinned” (v.4). He sees that the sacrifices God wants are “a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart” (v.17). Those, David has.

Many people have a genuine desire to serve others, but for some, service is really self-serving. This was true when Jesus was training His disciples. They were under the impression that following Him would make them great.

But Jesus quickly set them straight: “Those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you” (Mark 10:42-43). Jesus made it clear to them that they were in training to become servants: “Whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all” (v.44).

Go ahead,step forward and be a light of the world.Go and serve him.Serve his people.Glorify his name.

You are the light of the world let your light shine upon men that they may glorify You father in heaven ( Matthew 5 )

Open the door..He's everything You need

The city of Laodicea had a water problem. One nearby town had fabulous hot springs and another had cold, clear water. Laodicea, however, was stuck with tepid, mineral-laden water that tasted like sulphur. Not hot. Not cold. Just gross.

Given those facts, the words of Jesus to the Laodicean believers in Revelation 3 must have stung. Jesus rebuked them for being “neither cold nor hot” (v.15). And when He thought of them, He felt like vomiting (v.16)—like the effect of their drinking water.

What was their problem? It was the sin of self-sufficiency. The Laodiceans had become so affluent that they had forgotten how much they needed Jesus (v.17).

When we say we have everything we need, but Jesus isn’t at the top of the list, He is deeply offended. Self-sufficiency distracts us from pursuing the things we really need that only He can give. If you’d rather have cash than character, if your credit cards are maximized and your righteousness is minimized, if you’ve become smart but aren’t wise, then you’ve been shopping in all the wrong places. Jesus offers commodities that are far better (v.18).

He’s knocking at your heart’s door (v.20). Let Him in. He will give you all you really need! - Joe Stowell

God often uses fellow believers to show us His love. “We, being many, are one body in Christ. . . . Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them” (Rom. 12:5-6). We serve others “with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 4:11).

As someone once said: a bell is not a bell until you ring it. A song is not a song until you sing it. And love in your heart is not love until you give it away.

Love is active or it is apparently, not love. Love does something good for others and to others.

When we show love and compassion in simple, practical ways, we are a part of God’s ministry to His people.We show our love for God when we love His family.

Our preacher started with an interesting icebreaker before his sermon.Taught us about teamwork!Great game! His sermon was Transforming Into An Agent for Christ.Great sermon.

And now announcements!

1.On the 27th of September,there won't be any youth.We will be heading to YMCA for Footstool Players's drama entitled " Crazy Little Thing Called Love " . This drama has gotten good reviews and do come.It's free admission but you need a ticket to enter the hall so do get your tickets from Deborah,Eugene,Mark,Sandy or Kelvin.

2. This coming Saturday at 8pm at St.Peter's Church Sanctuary..Tim Lim is coming down to Ipoh to launch his album so do come and give your support to him.Those who have pre-ordered the album can kindly pay ( if you haven't do so) and pick up your album. For those who wants to buy straightaway,the price of the album is RM 29.90.So do come for a night of celebration and music and do come and support him.

3. Next week's event is..... COOKING! Yes! Cooking ! They will be a cooking competition going on by our very own youths.So do come and we'll see who has the best abilities in cooking! See you soon and God bless.

SPC ENGLISH FAMILY CAMP 2009 at Belum Rainforest Resort,Pulau Banding,Perak

St.Peter's Church,Ipoh had its annual family camp at Belum Rainforest Resort from 29th of August to the 31st of August 2009.
A very anointed speaker,Rev.Dr.Thomas Cheng came and spoke in six sessions.Rev.Dr.Thomas Cheng has travelled to many countries to preach the gospel.Here are the photos.

This week's agenda was talent time! We had to do advertisements.Each of the four groups have to advertise an item they have chosen.

All acts were hilarious and the judges to gave a performance.

Hiking

Initial plan was hiking to the top in groups.Pouring rain spoiled the plan.

Headed to Menglembu SportsPlanet for futsal but price was too high.

So after the rain stopped we headed back to Kledang Hill and we walked all the way to the waterfall !
